The best answer possible

God hears our requests and he responds to them. He is a communicative and loving God! The relationship with us is important to him, he invites us to ask. Like a father, he is pleased when we come to him in trust.

But what if you feel he doesn’t answer or nothing changes despite your many prayers?

Sometimes we hear nothing. Sometimes an answer to a request is not a “yes” either. Sometimes it is a “no” or “later”. We don’t understand that because a “no” is often very painful. And also a “later” is not so easy. Sometimes it changes a situation, sometimes it changes you. When he says “no”, he will stay very close to you and help you through the situation – if you let him help you.

Sometimes God is preparing us. He is at work behind the “scenes” unnoticed by us. We are never to judge his works or his motivation by what we see or feel. We are to hold fast to his promises. Remember them often and never stop believing! Don’t let resignation or weariness cause you to give up. God never acts too late; his timing is just right!

Bill Johnson (Senior Pastor from Bethel, Redding, USA), explains when we should expect a “no” to prayer: “He will not respond to what violates his own nature. He will not respond to what weakens your identity. And he won’t respond to whatever undermines your purpose in life.“

You see, because his nature is love, he will not violate it. He cannot. He has promised us his love and thus he can only respond to the prayers that serve you or other people best in the end! God will also respect the free will that he has given us humans. We have a human and thus limited insight into life, therefore we cannot judge what really serves us and others. And so we are called to believe in God’s love regardless of the situation.

Even if you don’t understand what he is doing, you can trust that he answers and that his plan is the best possible solution. Don’t give up, keep praying, hold fast to God’s promises, and keep God first.
