Summer Post
My husband and I are staying at home in beautiful St.Gallen this summer! And I’m looking forward to vacation, to doing something only when I feel like it, to no appointments in the calendar, to meet family and friends, to do a little of this, a little of that….
I’m determined to be nice to myself! Because I’m not always that way. Are you? Do you criticize yourself when your hair is not quite right, when the tablecloth has a stain when visitors come, when the garden is overgrown and out of control? I want to practice being nice to myself and closing my eyes to these things and liking myself anyway.
And I want to do things that I enjoy and that I can unwind with.
What do you enjoy doing? How do you relax and what helps you recharge? I’m excited to hear your suggestions!
I’ve made a list of activities that are good for me (the order is not important):
Going for a walk by the lake with a friend and eating ice cream
Watching an old thriller or a feel-good movie
Enjoying Pachebel’s Canon in D at full volume (Link )
Playing Rummikub with our special rules
Playing improvised darts in the backyard
Hiking to a mountain restaurant (Link)
Telling friends why I like them
Sitting in the hammock and letting my thoughts run free
Trying out a new recipe (Link add a few leaves of mint and cherry tomatoes!)
Maybe clean out a closet, if I feel like it
Meditate on prophecies I’ve already received
Sitting in a café with a friend
Sitting around the fire ring on the patio chatting with friends
Baking currant cake (Link)
Going for a ride on my motorcycle
Spending time with God and asking him what he still has in store for me
Cultivate gratitude
Enjoying an art exhibition
How does that sound? That’s why there will be no blogposts until September and I assume you wouldn’t have time to read them anyway, because you’re planning your summer a bit differently, too. I thank you for your loyalty and say goodbye for a few weeks. I’m looking forward to welcoming you back again in the fall and would appreciate your comments below on what helps you to relax and recharge!
Have a wonderful summer!
