Right or wrong?

Sometimes we are faced with decisions and ask ourselves: What does God want? What is right, what is wrong? We pray about it and still have no answer.

Questions like:
Should I take this better paying job even though it will mean more travel time?
What should I wear, how much make-up should I put on? Is it too much, or too little?
Does God want me to be active for Him, even if I am not sure if I can do it and if it is really from Him?
Can I refuse a request for support? Am I allowed to say “no”?

There are as many answers to these questions as there are people. But what is right for God? After all, we want to please God and do his will.

We always fall so quickly into this “right or wrong”. But that is not what God is concerned with!
God does not primarily want right decisions from us, but a trusting relationship! When we are close to him and spend time with him, for example in prayer, in silence or thinking about his word, then he can show us his thoughts about us. We experience what God is really like and how he sees us.

These experiences with God change us. In these experiences, he fulfills our deepest desires, but especially our deep longing for love, for recognition, value, provision, and security.

Imagine that these desires are satisfied within you and those longings are fulfilled. Won’t you then look differently at the questions above ? Won’t a completely different perspective emerge?

If I am filled with recognition from God, then I don’t need that great job to get my recognition from people. Are other things more important than the provision of money at that moment?
When I am filled with his love and know that I am wonderfully made, I do not need to dress in a flashy way to please others. I have a beautiful appearance because I am loved!
When I have the assurance of God, I see more clearly what is “next” for me.
Am I no longer a valuable Christian if I say “no”? If I know that God gives me value, then I don’t have to fill an emptiness within me by helping, but can decide whether it is possible at the moment or not.

How does that resonate with you?

God wants a relationship with you! He wants to show you how much he loves you. With this love, he heals unhealthy beliefs. This relationship enables you to make good decisions, because they don’t have to fill an emptiness within you. They are a result of you letting him fill you. The motivation for your decisions will change. The beliefs in your heart are much more important to God than doing something “right or wrong”!

It is not about performance – biblically called law – but about grace! It is about accepting love, recognition, value, provision and security from my gracious God and Father. They are undeserved gifts for which I do not have to perform!

We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God… Romans 8:28

We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God. That is a tremendous promise! The requirement is that we love God – intimately. Because there, God can heal the beliefs in our heart and fill us. Let’s get involved in a loving relationship with God, it is so rewarding – and out of the fullness, decisions will be much easier for us!
