Fact or fiction?

“You have so much good stuff to say, but when you say it, it doesn’t come across convincingly!” That was a well-meaning comment from my husband that made me think twice. Wait, what was that?

Maybe it happens to you too, that you have good ideas, but somehow it just doesn’t come across to the person you’re talking to? You have a well-founded opinion about a topic, have read a lot and have much to say about it. And yet people don’t really listen to you. Of course, this may be due to your listener. But you should probably take a closer look.
When I say something, I assume that the other person hears exactly what I say. But I didn’t reckon with my subconscious, which is also talking and often says something different than my mind. How? Through my voice, facial expressions, posture, choice of words, volume and expression. So what I actually say can be quite distorted.

People believe what my subconscious tells them. The mind often conveys information, knowledge, facts. But my subconscious communicates to the other person whether it is important to listen to me and believe me. I constantly express how I perceive myself!

How do you assess yourself? How do you come to this opinion about yourself? You probably also have crucial experiences in your mind, often situations from your childhood. “You talk too much” or “What do you know?” Such carelessly spoken words many years ago can be persistently stuck in your head. And as long as you do not convince your subconscious of the opposite, this belief remains there.

And now? What do I do with it? I can let myself be changed by the Holy Spirit. For this to happen, I need more than anything else openness and the desire to grow.

…we are being changed into his image with ever-increasing glory. This comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
2. Kor 3:18

I trust that the Holy Spirit will change me for the better. And I pray that he will bring old wounds, thought patterns and beliefs to light and heal them.
For this change to happen I can become active myself and bombard my subconscious with the value that God gives me until it is convinced that God is right. When I know that I am created in the image of God, that I am loved and that nothing can ever change this fact, then I am free! It is important to God that I believe him! Reading the Bible, praying for it and being still before God are effective means for this change!

Work on being able to appreciate yourself as God does and people will appreciate you and what you say!
